Dakota Nation Art & Gift Store Featured Artist of the Month - March 2007: Lynn Ducheneaux

Dakota Nation Art & Gift Store would like to present Lynn “Butch” Ducheneaux as March’s featured artist.  Lynn is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.  He is married to Denise Mireau-Ducheneaux of Buffalo Lake District and they have 2 children. Lynn has lived here for more than 10 years and works at Lake Traverse Utility Commission as a field operator. Lynn is a traditional dancer and enjoys traveling to Pow Wows.  He has a wide range of talents from creating traditional regalia, war clubs, dance sticks, moccasins, rawhide shields, dream catchers, beading and also making his daughter’s jingle dress.  When asked about his art, Lynn stated, “My art work was passed on to me by my elders; aunts, uncles and other relatives.  That is why I feel it is important to bring more young ones into the Pow Wow circle.”  You can see Lynn’s work all month long in March at Dakota Nation Art & Gift Store, 12 Veterans Ave, Sisseton.
