Self-taught, Tim Swimmer has been painting since age 10.  In 1995, he began painting professionally full-time.   He draws inspiration from nature, family and other Native artists, with the most significant encouragement flowing from his great desire to succeed as an artist.  Drawing ideas from books, oral history, traditions and dreams, Tim creates on canvas and illustration board, as well as with watercolor materials.

A very spiritual person, Tim is culturally aware and uses his art to communicate spiritual and cultural perspectives.  Featured artist for the fall/winter issue of the North Platte Traveler Magazine, he is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.  

Tim has received awards at the CRST Art Expo at the Crazy Horse Memorial and at the BHSU Art Expo in 2001.
